The Supreme Court gave Trump a much-deserved smack in the face today.

Another Case Lost, This One in the High Court
Trump is howling tonight. But those who expect laws to be followed are cheering as the Supreme Court Rule Against Trump on Alien Enemies Case.
In a 7-2 decision, the court said the Trump administration had not given the detainees enough time or adequate resources to challenge their deportations.
“Under these circumstances, notice roughly 24 hours before removal, devoid of information about how to exercise due process rights to contest that removal, surely does not pass muster,” the ruling said.
The justices barred the removal of the men, who the Trump administration alleges are members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, pending a new decision from a lower federal appellate court.
But “the Government may remove the named plaintiffs or putative class members under other lawful authorities,” they wrote.
President Donald Trump raged against the ruling later Friday afternoon.
“THE SUPREME COURT WON’T ALLOW US TO GET CRIMINALS OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The court in its ruling acknowledged that the Venezuelans’ interests are “particularly weighty.” It noted that the government is currently arguing that it cannot “provide for the return” of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, “an individual deported in error to a prison in El Salvador.”

The Supreme Court has just ruled that the worst murderers, drug dealers, gang members, and even those who are mentally insane, who came into our Country illegally, are not allowed to be forced out without going through a long, protracted, and expensive Legal Process, one that will take, possibly, many years for each person, and one that will allow these people to commit many crimes before they even see the inside of a Courthouse. The result of this decision will let more CRIMINALS pour into our Country, doing great harm to our cherished American public. It will also encourage other criminals to illegally enter our Country, wreaking havoc and bedlam wherever they go. Sleepy Joe Biden allowed MILLIONS of Criminal Aliens to come into our Country without any “PROCESS” but, in order to get them out of our Country, we have to go through a long and extended PROCESS. Has Trump sealed the border or not?
The law allows challenges. Trump doesn’t give any. So this is a clear case, without even commenting on the merits of the case.
“Perpetrating an Invasion”
The idea that immigrants are an “invasion” is of course nonsensical in and of itself.
I expect Trump to lose that case on merits.
Trump has taken so many extreme positions on everything. Before I saw this ruling I had this conversation on X.

Me: John, let’s assume you are 100% correct. The remedy is pretty damn simple isn’t it? Have you ever heard of the appeals court? Q: Why was Trump so damn stupid as to fire people without giving the required 60 day notice? Why shouldn’t an order like that apply to the country? Now look at deporting the wrong person. Trump says there is nothing he can do about it. There is no remedy for the person wrongly deported. The remedy in advance is to stop such events from happening. And if Trump doesn’t like it, he has an easy remedy (appeal). Birthright Citizenship cancellation is so error prone I suspect the Supreme Court will now rule against him on these blanket judicial rulings. It is what Trump 100% deserves for taking so many extreme positions. You are a bright guy. I can’t understand how you don’t understand the view I just stated.
Synopsis
The reason two-thirds of all universal judicial injunctions in U.S. history have been used against President Trump is Trump has flouted broken the rules and flouted the constitution more than any president in history.
For those who may not know, Biden is number two. Republicans also took advantage of the court system by case shopping, and Biden lost.
The remedy if for Republicans and Democrats to stop making absurd laws by executive order.
Congress, not the president has the power of the purse. And Trump cannot change the Constitution at will as he tried to do with Birthright Citizenship.
This case is not about keeping criminals here, it is about stupid executive orders that led to a sensible ruling.
The Court gave Trump a smack in the face. Trump deserved it. And more slaps are coming.
My Suggestion Months Ago
I made a suggestion several times after Trump was elected: Work out a deal with Democrats to remove the 1 million criminals with existing criminal warrants. In return, grant amnesty to the so-called “Dreamers”.
I believe Democrats would have gone along with this. We would have had cooperation instead of resistance.
Businesses could breathe a sigh of relief, especially construction, agriculture, hotel cleaning, and fast food services.

I had not read the Dignity Act until today. The act, or something very close, is undoubtedly the best immigration policy. It is both exceptionally balanced and bipartisan.
I hope common sense prevails over inflammatory rhetoric and The Dignity Act passes by an overwhelming majority.

Trump’s interview on Meet the Press sounds exactly like the deportation strategy I proposed.

What Happened?
Trump did not opt for a deal. He deported people by mistake. He claims he cannot remedy his mistake.
Had Trump opted for a deal, we would be on our way for deporting millions. Instead, Trump opted to throw read meat to the hyenas screaming to deport them all even though that would have led to an economic collapse.
The smart thing to do was go for two bills, not one big monstrosity.
A dreamers bill coupled with ending the silliness and fraud DOGE discovered would have gotten the administration off on the right foot.
Instead, Trump is losing case after case in the courts and now Trump’s Big, Beautiful Tax Bill Dies in Committee
Trump blames the courts, he blames Senator Rand Paul, and he blames GRANDSTANDERS’ in the Republican Party” for all his woes.
Trump needs to look in the mirror to see his biggest problem, himself.

No! I am happy about the ruling but unhappy with where we are.
There are 1 million or so criminals with warrants that should be deported. There are also 12 million or so people hard-working who should not be living in fear of being deported.
So, the whole damn thing stinks.
And yes, Biden created this mess. But Trump has to deal with the hand he is dealt, not try to turn the clock back 4 years.
