TEHACHAPI, Calif. (TCN) — Rapper Tory Lanez, who is serving time in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, was hospitalized Monday following a stabbing.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) confirmed to “True Crime News” that on May 12 at 7:20 a.m., another inmate at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi “attacked” Lanez, whose birth name is Daystar Peterson. Staff at the prison “immediately responded, activated 911, and began medical aid.”
He was transported to an outside hospital for treatment.
CDCR said the California Correctional Institution Investigative Services Unit and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office have opened an investigation into the incident.
Lanez, 31, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023 for assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm with negligence in connection with the shooting that injured “Hot Girl Summer” rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Prison records show he is eligible for parole in July 2029.
