MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. (TCN) — A man will spend time behind bars for cutting his girlfriend’s throat in front of their young daughter because he reportedly believed the victim was cheating on him.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office announced April 23 that Manuel Jesus Huchin-Interian pleaded guilty to second-degree assault constituting domestic violence. He faces 70 months, or five years and 10 months, in prison and three years of post-prison supervision. Huchin-Interian is scheduled to be sentenced on April 28.

According to prosecutors, on June 7, 2021, police responded to a home in Gresham after receiving multiple 911 calls, including from a 10-year-old girl who said her parents were arguing and “dad stabbed mom.” The defendant’s daughter reportedly said she retrieved a knife and tried to stab her father, but it was too dull. She allegedly dropped the weapon and fled to her room with her younger siblings and locked the door.

Huchin-Interian’s daughter reportedly told officials she exited the room when her father left and rendered aid to her mother while on the line with 911. Officers arrived and located the victim “lifeless,” face-down in a pool of blood. The victim had sustained an 8-inch-deep cut, but she survived.

According to prosecutors, the victim told police that Huchin-Interian “accused her of cheating and took a knife and cut her throat.” He allegedly said he was going to “finish her” and then “finish the kids.” Huchin-Interian fled but was arrested in San Francisco in March 2024.
