GEORGETOWN, Del. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of setting his girlfriend on fire following a dispute.

According to the Delaware State Police, in the early hours of April 20, troopers responded to a home on Paradise Street to a report of a “woman in distress.” At the scene, state police made contact with a 44-year-old woman who had sustained severe burns to a “large portion of her body.” She was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.

Further investigation revealed the victim and her boyfriend, Keith Morrison, got into an argument in their bedroom before Morrison allegedly threw an unknown liquid at her and set her on fire. Morrison then fled on foot.

Troopers found Morrison in a nearby field and apprehended him. He faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder and was booked into the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1 million bond.
