In major cities across Australia, Anzac Day ceremonies are held at key locations.
Here’s where and when you can join in:
Sydney: The Anzac Day dawn service at The Cenotaph in Sydney’s Martin Place starts at 4.20am. Thousands are expected to gather to honour fallen soldiers.
Melbourne: The dawn service at the Shrine of Remembrance starts at 5.30am. It includes recitations, hymns, wreath-laying and an address Victoria’s governor. Screens around the shrine will allow people to watch proceedings.
Brisbane: The dawn service at the Shrine of Remembrance in Anzac Square starts at 4.28am. Brisbane’s Anzac Day march starts at 9.45am from the corner of Adelaide and George Streets.
Perth: The dawn service at Kings Park starts at 5.45am, with the Anzac Day parade starting at 9am along St Georges Terrace.
Adelaide: The dawn service at the National War Memorial starts at 6am, and the Anzac Day march kicks off at 9.30am from the intersection of Gawler Place and North Terrace.
Hobart: The dawn service at the Cenotaph in the Hobart RSL is at 6am, with the Anzac Day march starting at 11am on Elizabeth Street.
Darwin: The dawn service at the Cenotaph begins at 6am, followed by the Anzac Day march at 9am on Knuckey Street.
Canberra: The dawn service at the Australian War Memorial starts at 5.30am, followed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Veterans and Services Association commemorative ceremony at 7.30 am.

New rules for NSW
This year, there is a significant update to the operating restrictions for certain businesses on ANZAC Day.
NSW is extending its Anzac Day retail trading ban to cover the entire day, hoping it will help encourage more people to commemorate veterans.
Restrictions on retailers, including supermarkets, previously ran until 1pm on the day but this year, they won’t be lifted until midnight.
There are some exceptions, such as pharmacies, service stations, and small shops.
Most large shops, such as major supermarkets and department stores, will be closed all day.
Beyond pharmacies and service stations, stores exempt from the rules include bookshops, florists, and toy shops.
Large shops like major supermarkets and department stores are only allowed to open from 12pm to 5pm if they’re in the Adelaide CBD.
In other parts of the state, they must remain closed. Exceptions include pharmacies, service stations, pet shops, and plant nurseries, to name a few.
